Przykona Solar Park

Przykona Solar Park

Wielkopolska, Poland

Utility

In the town of Przykona, Wielkopolska, a groundbreaking solar transformation has turned a former open-pit mine into one of Poland's largest solar parks. The Przykona Solar Park, with a capacity of 200.28 MWp, is now a cornerstone of Poland’s renewable energy efforts, utilising 308,930 of Trinasolar's Vertex dual-glass bifacial modules. Spanning 270 hectares, the park is set to generate 220,000 MWh annually, enough to power 100,000 homes, while reducing CO₂ emissions by around 183,700 tonnes each year.

Built on brownfield land—challenging terrain previously used for mining—Przykona Solar Park addresses a unique issue faced across Europe. With around 20,000 similar sites, such areas are often unsuitable for traditional reuse. Renewable projects like Przykona not only reinvigorate these landscapes but also help bridge economic gaps left by decommissioned sites, showing a sustainable path forward for Europe’s abandoned industrial lands.

Trinasolar’s advanced Vertex dual-glass bifacial modules and FixOrigin Bipost 2P mounting structures were specifically chosen for this installation, ensuring the high-power modules achieve optimal performance even in demanding conditions. The FixOrigin structures, designed to resist high wind loads, minimise shading on the module rear sides, enabling Przykona’s bifacial panels to fully harness sunlight from both sides and achieve an ultra-low levelised cost of energy (LCOE).

This solar park exemplifies Poland’s green ambitions, breathing new life into the region while setting a high standard for large-scale renewable projects on reclaimed land.
